Conservation of species in wild

Efforts by individuals and institutions that have led to conservation, management and restoration of habitats and population recovery of wild species resulting in significant reduction in the threat level.

Conservation of domesticated species

Efforts by individuals and institutions that have led to conservation, management and population recovery of domesticated species resulting in significant reduction in the threat level.

Sustainable use of biological resources

Efforts initiated by individuals and institutions in sustainable use of biological resources, extent of biological resources used/exploited and engagement of local communities.

Replicable mechanisms for access and benefit sharing

Efforts led by individuals and institutions resulting in monetary and non-monetary equitable sharing of benefits arising from the utilisation of biological resources between concerned communities and other stakeholders.

Best Biodiversity Management Committee

Recognising efforts by Biodiversity Management Committees on scientific documentation of biological resources that integrate traditional knowledge; generating awareness; establishing best practices that ensure sustainable use; social and gender equity and empowerment; and equitable sharing of benefits. The biological resources could be natural and/or those that include local traditional cultivars and animal breeds.
